-- What is Collaborative Leadership?
How responsive your organization is to new ideas about improving operations, product lines, and services will determine your future. To increase productivity, successful leaders create adaptive and participatory organizations. Collaborative cultures foster innovation and trust, encourage creative solutions and expect value-based participation in all areas of responsibility. To create such environments requires a collaborative leader.

Location: Salt Lake City - Park City

Cost: General admission $15.00 discount for students, bicyclists, seniors and children under 12 - $10.00.

This service is for the full day/complete tour only. Reservations are required)

Contact: (801) 484-6278 or e-mail karen@greenbuildingcenter.net.

Volunteers needed: Call (801) 484-6278 or e-mail karen@greenbuildingcenter.net.

- The Green Building Center will present its Second Annual Green Home Tour. This year we will be featuring 10 residential buildings, 8 located in the Salt Lake Valley and 2 in Park City. Features will include a strawbale construction, ICF, SIPS, active and passive solar, bamboo flooring, Marmoleum flooring, low VOC paints and finishes, and much more.

- Want to get involved?  We need volunteers at each of the homes to help explain the Green features. No experience necessary. We'll provide all of the information required. We also need ticket-takers and others to help monitor parking. All volunteers will receive a ticket to the tour and lunch! To sign-up call The Green Building Center at (801) 484-6278 or e-mail karen@greenbuildingcenter.net.

- Why Build Green?  According to the U.S. Department of Energy, buildings in the United States consume more than 30% of our total energy and 60% of our electricity annually. Five billion gallons of potable water are used to flush toilets daily. A typical North American commercial construction project generates up to 2.5 pounds of solid waste per square foot of floor space.

Buildings are a major source of the pollutants that cause urban air quality problems and contribute to climate change. Green building practices can substantially reduce the negative environmental impacts associated with these buildings.

- The Green Building Center is proud to be a member of the Salt Lake Vest Pocket Business Coalition, and Local First Utah, and a Salt Lake City e2 Business.

- Growing your business can sometimes be challenging. And finding the right mix of marketing, advertising and personal contacting can also be a challenge. In order for you to be successful as a business, customers need to know who you are, what services or products you provide, and costs associated with your business. Especially when you are just starting out or in a slow time – advertising is most critical to build your business.

- Boyd Petersen, co-owner of the Valley Journals, will present some great ideas on how your business can benefit from advertising.

This workshop will explore the pros and cons of all types of advertising including: print, radio, television, coupons, fliers, trade shows, promotional items/give-aways, and others. Not all advertising suits all types of businesses. Learn how advertising can be an asset to build your business and what type of advertising should be your primary means of getting the word out. Also learn how to use other advertising to better the results of your primary advertising efforts.

Boyd Petersen has been working with marketing since 1985 when he was the marketing director for a national telephone distributor. The Valley Journals was started in 1991 as a monthly community newspaper for Riverton, Herriman and Bluffdale. In 1998, Boyd and his partner Linda bought the newspaper. Since then it has grown to include 10 community journals (serving 19 communities) with a circulation of over 280,000. They have also added two industry specific newspapers; the Ski & Snowboard News and the Entertainment Journal.

Press Conference & Ribbon Cutting by Midvale City
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Address: Project site on the corner of 7200 South 700 West, Midvale
Info: www.MidvaleCity.org (801) 567-7200
On Monday Mayor JoAnn Seghini, Bob Soehnlen, property owner, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  announced at a press conference that Bingham Junction, the “Midvale Slag” Superfund site, has been cleaned and will be removed from the EPA National Priorities List it had been on since 1991.
The ribbon cutting will recognize the completed clean-up efforts on the Bingham Junction Superfund Site and will be followed by a Texas Barbeque for state, local, and federal officials. Cleanup of the site was completed by ENTACT Environmental Services and took approximately 17 months to clean. The event sets the future for Midvale City’s west border and establishes these 220 acres available for development with the remaining 130 acres under construction in BJ at the junction of I-15 and I-215 freeways.

Bingham Junction will have its own stop on TRAX light rail. The project sits along the Jordan River, providing numerous green spaces. Long-term plans include large scale master planned development featuring a great location as well as a fiber-optic infrastructure.

Special Guest: Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi is a revolutionary in the tradition of the old Zen Masters who so embodied Buddhist teaching that they were able to revitalize and transform it for their own day and age.  As Buddhism moved from India to China to Japan and other Asian cultures, it found unique expression in each culture that made its fundamental teachings resonate for a new time and place. Genpo Roshi is working to transmit the essence of Buddha’s teachings in what is readily accessible to Westerners and relevant to our everyday life.

About the book
The Law of Achievement offers a rare look into what it really means to discover your purpose, possibility and potential.

Authors Kathleen Gage and Lori Giovannoni dare to reveal uncommon and rarely explored philosophies in this unique book. Having been driven by the traditional measurements of success, Kathleen and Lori have discovered the counter-intuitive laws of achievement that had been brewing in their consciousness for years.

The catalyst for writing this book was a life changing experience for both authors that forever shifted their perception of success.

Both Gage and Giovannoni have been sharing these philosophies for decades at conferences and conventions throughout the world. Now you can enjoy the same insights that have been thrilling audiences for years.

moosebutter is a curious mix of seeming opposites: comedic, yet educational; hilarious, yet musical; fun for children, yet entertaining for adults.  Singing a cappella comedy songs, moosebutter has presented at community and corporate events, school assemblies and special programs, fund raisers, charity events, rock shows, storytelling and arts festivals, and private shows for 5 years. moosebutter covers a wide range of musical and comedy styles in each show, guaranteeing that every audience member will experience something they love.

moosebutter is Tim Y. Jones, Weston Wride, Glen Sawyer, and Chris Harris. Three of them are former members of BYU's Men's Chorus, two have college music degrees, and though the average age of moosebutter is only 27, they have nearly 60 years of performing experience between them.

moosebutter won 1st runner-up, and top American group, at the 2003 Harmony Sweepstakes International vocal competition. moosebutter has also won honors and accolades for their debut CD, "see dee," their hugely popular Christmas show, and their school outreach programs.
