Blue Grass Concert The Temple Squares
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Midvale Performing Arts Center
Address: 695 West Center Street (7720 South)
Cost: Free - sponsored by The Midvale Arts Council
The Temple Squares are a local Midvale Country Bluegrass band who has played to rave reviews in venues from Park City to Lehi. They play hits from Johnny Cash to John Denver and back again. Leading the group is Jeff Rickard on lead guitar, mandolin, and vocals. He resides in Midvale with his wife Connie. His day job is with the venerable UTA. Also known as the Sound Guy for the MoTab, Milo Lefler jams on the upright bass. He lives in Midvale with his wife Susanne. Paige Moore brings guitar and vocals. She and her husband Brent are also Midvalians and she has recently joyously become a stay-at-home-mom to their absolutely adorable and brilliant ten-month-old daughter Miriam. You may recognize him as a lowly UTA bus driver, but we introduce him as Chris Larsen, the amazing banjo and dobro guy. He lives in Cottonwood Heights, but considers Midvale a second home. Rounding out the Squares are the on-again-off-again members. They include Shawn Crosgrove, who dances like a star, Hannah Israelson, who has a nice guitar and even nicer licks, and Scott Nelson, who can blow a train whistle like nobody else. They will be entertaining anybody who cares to come. And remember, it’s hip to be Square.

- Chamber East Chamber of Commerce is planning a 10 day trip to China in March of 2009. We picked spring because it’s the prettiest time of year in China and usually a more expensive time to travel to China. However, this trip will cost less then $2,000.00 including round trip air fare – 5 star hotels, food and everything inclusive.

We invite anyone from our communities to join us for this amazing trip – you do not need to be a member of Chamber East to enjoy this fabulous exotic trip. Remember to include family and friends when you plan on joining us in China next March. Please come to the orientation prepared with any questions you may have and remember to invite your family and friends. We’ve scheduled the meeting for 2 hours so that all questions can be answered thoroughly.

NO TO MANDATES in Healthcare - Seminar
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Sugar House Sprague Library
Address: 1100 East 2110 South, Sugar House, Utah
The Utah Legislative Task Force on Healthcare is rumored to be ready to use mandates to force businesses to purchase healthcare insurance. Forcing business owners to purchase health insurance will not help to make healthcare affordable. If businesses cannot afford healthcare now, mandating health insurance does not improve the situation.
Just saying NO TO MANDATES is not enough. We need to offer an alternative solution in place of mandates. The solution must increase access to good healthcare and offer affordable costs.
Vest Pocket Business Coalition, Chamber East Chamber of Commerce and the Humanists of Utah are sponsoring this Seminar. We hope you will join us to discuss this important topic which will certainly impact all businesses throughout Utah.
